I am Andy Acamon, and this is my true story of how God entered and transformed my life. Almost 40 years ago, I was known as a tough and violent man. Your life may not have been as extreme as mine, but you need Jesus Christ, and He can change your life just as He changed mine.
My Troubled Past
I was born in Oulton Broad, near Lowestoft, England, in a family of five children. I had two brothers and two sisters, with a Spanish father and an English mother. I was brought up with little discipline, and in my early teens, I started getting into trouble with the police. At 14, I was sent to a remand home for riding motorbikes underage. At 15, I was sentenced to up to three years in Kerrison Approved School in Suffolk for the same offence.
At first, I was bullied and pushed around, but I quickly learned to defend myself and became known as a fighter. After serving 19 months, I was released, but I soon found myself back in court, this time for assault. I was sent to North Sea Detention Centre near Boston for three months. By the time I was released, I was a hardened man, living a life of lying, cheating, and stealing, doing anything for my own gain.
A Turning Point
In 1968, I got married to my wife, and we had a son. My wife wanted him christened, but I refused to set foot in a church for any reason. I started working as a bouncer at a seedy nightclub and later became a tattoo artist.
Seventeen years later, we had a daughter, and once again my wife wanted our new baby christened. This led to several arguments, but eventually, I agreed. At that time, I was having a speedboat built at a boatyard. Whenever I visited to check on the progress of the build, my language was so filthy that the workers had to shut all the doors to stop the women nearby from hearing me.
One day, as I was discussing the christening, one of the workers suggested I come along to his church. He explained that they did dedications instead of christenings. Out of curiosity, we went one Sunday morning, and we continued attending every week. By the time our daughter was dedicated to the Lord on her first birthday, God had already started working in my heart.
Meeting Jesus
As I listened to the Gospel being preached, I realised that God had sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to die for my sins. I knew I needed to ask for forgiveness and invite Him into my life. One Sunday afternoon in November 1986, I cried out to the Lord Jesus for mercy and asked Him to save me. From that moment, my life changed. I stopped swearing and gave up many of the things I used to do. A few weeks later, I even stopped tattooing because I knew it was not what He wanted me to do.
What Changed?
I admitted to God that I am a sinner. I accepted that Jesus’ death on the cross was the only way my sins could be forgiven. He gave me a new life, one that will last forever. This is not about becoming religious but about knowing Jesus personally, the Son of God, who loves me and promised never to let me go.
The Bible says, “If any man be in Christ, he is a new creature; old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.” (2 Corinthians 5:17)
Life Today
Now I live each day for my Lord and Saviour, who suffered and died for me so that I could have my sins forgiven and receive eternal life. I am born again, I have eternal life, and by the grace of God, I am on my way to heaven. Would you like to go there too?
“For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God.” (Ephesians 2:8)
“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16)
What Happens When You Die?
There has been much discussion about near-death experiences, where people describe leaving their bodies and seeing themselves below. These experiences reflect a spiritual truth. When you die, your soul, the real you, leaves your body. If you are born again, your soul will go to heaven to live with Jesus. If not, you will face judgement and everlasting punishment.
Jesus said, “In my Father’s house are many mansions… I am the way, the truth, and the life; no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” (John 14:2,6)
An Invitation
Jesus is the only Saviour. No religion can save you. This is not about religion; it is about life. Jesus said, “Except a man be born again, he cannot see the Kingdom of God.” (John 3:3) Being born again means confessing your sins to Jesus, accepting Him as your Saviour, and receiving a new life.
Jesus offers you forgiveness and eternal life. Will you accept Him today? He loves you and is waiting for you.
Do you know where you are going?
All who want to go to heaven must be born again. Jesus talked about heaven, and He said, “In my Father’s house are many mansions.” Also, He said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life; no man comes to the Father but by me.” (John ch. 14 v. 2, 6)
The Lord Jesus Christ is the only Savior there is
If Jesus is right (and He most certainly is), then all other ways are wrong! Religions are a waste of time; they cannot save you. Only Jesus can. God did not create the religions of the world; man did, to satisfy his conscience! “Man is learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.” (2 Timothy ch. 3 v. 7) This is not religion; it is life!
Do you know the one who died on the cross for you?
When Jesus came, He told us something that no religion has ever thought of and which contradicts the basic principle of all religions. He said, “Except a man be born again, he cannot see the Kingdom of God.” (John ch. 3 v. 3). Jesus said that He is the only way to God the Father, and the new birth is the only way to heaven. What did He mean? He meant a spiritual birth whereby a person is able to confess his sins to Jesus Christ, accept Him as Savior, and receive a new life. This is the Gospel. Look and live. Out of religion, and into Christ!
Salvation Prayer
“Lord Jesus Christ, I believe that You died for me. I acknowledge that I am a sinner. Please come into my life and forgive my sins. And save me. Amen.”
