How God Saved Stanley Praimnath on 9/11: A Story of Faith and Deliverance

On September 11, 2001, Stanley Praimnath arrived at his office on the 81st floor of the World Trade Center’s South Tower. As Assistant Vice President at Fuji Bank, he began his day just like any other. His Bible, which he kept at work, rested on his desk.

Stanley was unaware of the events unfolding across the plaza in the North Tower until a colleague called, urging him to stay alert. Moments later, he looked out his office window and saw an airplane flying dangerously low. It was heading straight for his building. In desperation, Stanley cried out, “Lord, I can’t do this! You take over!”

The Impact and a Miraculous Survival

United Airlines Flight 175 crashed into the South Tower with devastating force, destroying the floor where Stanley worked. Flames erupted, and the building’s structure crumbled around him. Stanley instinctively dove under his desk for protection.

Amid the destruction, his desk, with his Bible on it, remained intact. Everything else was gone, but the desk stood firm. Stanley, trapped and injured, began to pray, asking for strength and help.

A Cry for Help Answered

Stanley’s cries for help echoed through the wreckage. They were heard by Brian Clark, a fellow occupant of the South Tower and the designated fire warden for his floor. Brian made his way through the debris, guided by the sound of Stanley’s voice.

When Brian reached him, Stanley was pinned behind rubble. Though they had never met before, the two men quickly formed a bond. Brian encouraged Stanley to push through the debris and climb toward him. Exhausted and wounded, Stanley tried but failed. After a brief moment of prayer, he mustered his strength and managed to break free with Brian’s assistance.

The Long Descent to Safety

Stanley and Brian began the perilous journey down the building’s stairwell, navigating thick smoke and falling debris. As they descended, they passed others who were heading to higher floors, hoping to be rescued by air.

The stairwell was dark and chaotic, but the two men pressed on, determined to reach safety. Step by step, they made their way down 1,620 stairs.

Reaching the Ground and Escaping the Collapse

When Stanley and Brian finally reached the ground, they emerged into a scene of devastation. Firefighters and police were shouting for everyone to run as the tower began to crumble. Flames and debris surrounded them, but neither of them was harmed.

Minutes later, the South Tower collapsed behind them. Stanley later said he felt like he had been given a second chance at life.

The Symbol of the Bible and God’s Faithfulness

Although Stanley never returned to his office after the plane hit, he learned that his desk had been the only one left standing on the 81st floor. On top of it rested his Bible. This image became a profound reminder to him of God’s faithfulness and protection in the midst of unimaginable destruction.

A New Mission in Life

Stanley’s miraculous survival compelled him to share his story with others. He began travelling to churches, schools, and public events, speaking about the events of that day and how God had protected him. He spoke to thousands, recounting the moment he cried out for help and the deliverance he experienced.

Stanley’s testimony continues to inspire people worldwide, reminding them of the power of faith and prayer.
