As It Was in the Days of Noah

“And as it was in the days of Noah, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of man, they did eat, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noah entered into the ark, and the flood came and destroyed them all.” (Luke 17:26 – 27).

If these words were but the mere opinions of men, we might disregard them, but since they are the words of Jesus Christ, the Son of God, they must and will be fulfilled to the very letter (Mark 13:31). Let us then carefully notice how it was in the days of Noah.

“God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.” (Genesis 6:5).

Yes, God saw. This does not tell us what man thought, but what God saw. And what was the wickedness of man then compared to the wickedness of man now? Has not man crucified the Son of God, and for almost 2,000 years rejected Him? Jesus foretells that this wicked rejection of Himself will continue right up to the very day that Christ will come back to reign over the earth.

Men in Noah’s day probably thought they were living in a time of wonderful progress, but:

“The earth was corrupt before God, and the earth was filled with violence.” (Genesis 6:11).

What is it now? The world’s newsmen say, “We have no sooner recorded one deed of violence than we are called to report another.”

But what is it before God? What will it be very shortly, when the true Church of God will be taken up to heaven, and Satan deceives the whole world? Peace shall then be taken completely from the earth (see Revelation 6). Men shall kill one another. Violence will fill the earth.

Prior to the flood, God revealed to Noah that He would destroy man from the face of the earth.

“By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; by the which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness, which is by faith.” (Hebrews 11:7).

Still the world went on; its buildings, its commerce, its pleasures, and its sins men would not believe God. The ark grew larger every day, a witness of the coming judgment; certainly there was no appearance of the coming flood.

Would God destroy this beautiful world in its infancy? Human reason said, “Oh, no, Noah; you are quite mistaken; it is only your opinion! You had better give up preaching such peculiar views! Come and enjoy yourself, man, and don’t be such a narrow-minded bigot! Do you think everybody is wrong but you?”

But the flood came and destroyed all but the seven who…

“Went in unto Noah into the ark, and the Lord shut him in.” (Genesis 7:13 – 16).

Every soul that was not shut in with Noah was shut out. It was too late. Yes, and it will be so in the day when Jesus Christ returns to judge the world.

Today many still reject the Word of God, just as fatally as in the days of Noah. But:

“The day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night. For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.” (1 Thessalonians 5:2 -3).

Are you ready to meet the coming Lord? Do you, like Noah, believe God? Or with the world, are you rejecting Him? God sees every one of your thoughts. Believe God now, repent of your sins, and accept Jesus Christ as your Saviour and Lord.

Do you know where you are going?

All who want to go to heaven must be born again.

Jesus talked about heaven, and He said:

“In my Father’s house are many mansions.”

Also He said:

“I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” (John 14:2,6).

The Lord Jesus Christ is the only Saviour there is.

If Jesus is right (and He most certainly is), then all other ways are wrong! Religions are a waste of time; they cannot save you, only Jesus can. God did not create the religions of the world; man did, to satisfy his conscience! Man is:

“Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.” (2 Timothy 3:7).

This is not religion, it is life!

Do you know the One who died on the cross for you?

Jesus said:

“Except a man be born again he cannot see the Kingdom of God.” (John 3:3).

Jesus said that He is the only way to God the Father, and the new birth is the only way to heaven.

What did He mean?

He meant a spiritual birth whereby a person is able to confess his sins to Jesus Christ and accepts Him as Saviour. This is the Gospel.

All sinners must be saved or they will perish!

Salvation Prayer

“Lord Jesus Christ, I believe that you died for me. I acknowledge that I am a sinner. Please come into my life and forgive my sins. And save me. Amen.”
